Late payments do not have to become (or stay) part of your business life.

Understanding this is critical to help keep your business alive . . . and help you sleep better at night.

The name Promise To Pay comes from something that has always fascinated me: it is written on UK banknotes as a statement of trust between institutions and the public.

I also own an old black-and-white £5 note with beautifully detailed calligraphy where those words stand out clearly.

To me, it represents something very simple—but very important:

A promise is only meaningful when the system exists to deliver it.

That idea sits at the centre of my work.

Because in business, most payment issues are not about willingness to pay—they are about whether the system successfully carries a promise through to completion.

 Help Your Business Stay Alive

Agree on payment terms from the start of your trading relationship. Before goods or services are delivered.

If payment terms were not agreed at the beginning, you might mistakenly believe the payment is overdue while your Customer doesn’t.

Payment terms are usually calculated from the invoice date regardless of when the goods or services were delivered.

Ensure you are specific on when payments are due.

Make sure the agreed payment terms are clear and documented and get your Customer to agree in writing or via email.

If you are struggling with getting paid I can help.
